C R E A T U R E S | IDEA TWO: SPACE GERMS
A sculpture idea, influenced by the works of Lorenzo Vitturi, but in a more minimalistic and modernist style, a style which I feel is more appealing and relaxing to view. I chose to make this image in a monochrome colour style, creating nice contrasting textures between the black and white elements of the image, with shading of each ball in similar parts, helping towards a more “lost in space” feel to the image. I chose to hang the sculpture, to give a more zero gravity look to the image, especially when upon the black background.
The image was only lit with one light, allowing the shadows to be controlled a lot easier, developing the textures of the individual balls, and also the wooden picks holding the balls together.
The centre framing also helps towards the minimalistic style, and it gives the image more space around, creating a more subtle image. This also gives the object room to move within the frame, as if it was floating in space, and has been captured mid-course.
